Belonging – Fitting In | January 31
Belonging // Fitting In
“Fitting in is about assessing a situation and becoming who you need to be to be accepted. Belonging, on the other hand, doesn’t require us to change who we are; it requires us to be who we are.”
― Brené Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection
According to researchers, the opposite of feeling a sense of belonging is fitting in. And, yet, arriving to a new place, we employ all our strengths to observe what our surroundings are like so we can be acclimate to them. What is lost in the process is our sense of self and true belonging.
Join us for a discussion on this topic, where we will explore the difference between belonging and fitting in, how our past experiences may be getting in the way of true belonging, and to explore together ways in which we can tap into the courage needed to foster a true sense of belonging.
The event will be hosted by volunteers Aglaia Michelaki and Raminta Sakinyte.
