How do awareness, unfinished thoughts, memory, emotion, and imagination open the door to authentic writing. Through gentle guided writing prompts, you’ll be invited to notice what emerges.
No writing experience is required.
Writing as Awareness
Sometimes writer’s block, or an aversion to writing, is not a lack of creativity – but too much pressure, self-judgment, or perfectionism. Gestalt therapy reminds us that unfinished feelings, memories, and experiences naturally seek expression. In this workshop, we will work with what appears in the here and now: sensations, images, fragments, emotions, and small moments that want attention.
Gentle Exercises to Unlock Creativity
Throughout the evening, we’ll use playful, grounding writing exercises inspired by Gestalt ideas such as closure, presence, and awareness. Through prompts, free writing, sensory exploration, and gentle reflection, you’ll be invited to discover where the writing wants to take you. There is nothing you need to perform, and no prior writing experience is required. The focus is on experimenting, noticing, and allowing language to emerge naturally – at your own pace.
The Atmosphere in the Room
You can expect a calm and welcoming space with room for reflection, creativity, laughter, vulnerability, and authentic expression. Some exercises may be done individually, while others invite optional sharing in pairs or as a group. This is not a critique workshop. There is no pressure to “be a good writer.” Instead, this is an opportunity to reconnect with your voice in a supportive and human environment.
Come as You Are
Whether you’re an experienced writer, someone who journals privately, or someone who hasn’t written creatively in years, you are warmly welcome. The most important thing is simply that you arrive with curiosity and a willingness to explore what wants to be written.
We look forward to writing with you.
