Join us for this Outdoor Art & Mental Health Workshop, “Shades of Summer”!
Overthinking, rumination, and excessive worrying can sometimes contribute to and maintain depression and anxiety. In this art workshop, we will explore some hands-on exercises inspired by attentional training techniques (ATT) in metacognitive therapy (MCT).
We will try some basic exercises, using art materials, while surrounded by the beautiful nature in Ørstedsparken. These exercises will emphasize the deliberate shifting of focus between self-focused (inner) and environment-focused (outer) attention.
We will explore how we can relate to negative thoughts and emotions without attempting to push them away with words like “I must not think about it.” Attentional Training Technique is about training our brain to enhance our control over where we direct our attention. It helps us recognize that our thoughts can be present without having control over us.
This workshop provides an introductory experience and will be hosted by volunteers with artistic background, and/or coaching training. It will hopefully provide insights to take home that can be of great use.
Where we meet
It will be held in Ørstedsparken. We are meeting by the statue of the grinder (search maps for “Grinder by unknown artist”) aka Arrotino – see map, which is located in the park next to the middle entrance to the park from Nørre Voldgade, 6 minutes walking from Cafe Blom.
What to bring
If you have the option, please consider taking a blanket/a pillow/a seating mat, and a bottle of water for your own convenience. Another suggestion is to consider what you are wearing on that day. We will be using liquids and sticky colors.
Snacks
Snacks and art materials will be available at the location.
Host for the evening
Agnija and Pedro are looking forward to spending some beautiful hours in the here & now with you all!
