The Masks We Wear – Exploring Fear, Shame and Authenticity

Join our workshop on Tuesday 14th at 17:30

“To let yourself be seen means to risk being truly known — and loved.”

Psychologist and mindfulness teacher Jack Kornfield

The Hidden Language of Fear and Shame
Fear and shame are powerful human emotions. Most of us know what it’s like to feel exposed, judged, or afraid of not being good enough. To cope, we learn to wear psychological masks — roles and attitudes that help us feel safe, competent, or accepted. Yet over time, these same defenses can distance us from real connection and quietly drain our confidence.

Seeing the Masks We Wear
In this workshop, we’ll explore the masks we wear in daily life. Through gentle psychological insights, guided reflection, and creative expression, we’ll look at how fear and shame operate, how masks form, and what it means to soften them.

Together, we’ll explore:

  • The protective roles we adopt to hide pain or appear in control,
  • The patterns that can both protect and limit us.
  • Ways to loosen unnecessary masks by cultivating self-acceptance and confidence.

Through a mix of shared reflection, helpful psychological concepts, and creative activities, we’ll discover both the parts we show and the parts we protect — in a calm and supportive space.

The Freedom to Be Real
Accepting imperfection is not weakness; it’s the foundation of authentic connection. When we understand the masks we wear, we gain the freedom to choose how and when to show more of our real selves.
